Mourne Golf Club duo Peter and Sean Paul Murray carded a stellar 46 points to claim the third title of Mourne Golf Club Open Week, the Men’s Open Fourball Stableford presented by Drumcastle Ltd.
The Murray duo secured a one point victory over a chasing pack from golf clubs all over the country. Captain Paddy Curran and Paul Byrne of Drumcastle Ltd presented the winning duo with their prizes of brand new Taylormade golf bags.
Three teams finished one shot shy of the eventual winner, with tie breakers needed to determine the final order of prizewinners. With 45 points a back nine score of 25, Adrian and Gerard Connolly of Concra Wood GC finished in the runners up spot and took home fresh pairs of Adidas golf shoes for their troubles.
Nigel Foran and Emmy Pike of Mount Juliet GC secured third place, while Ronan O’Driscoll and Anthony Kennedy of Nenagh GC and Tralee GC finished in the final of the prize-winning positions.
Open week rolls on with the McKeown Cup, sponsored by John Rodgers Building Supplies, on Thursday before the PGA Pro-Am on Friday.
