Welcome to Mourne Golf Club

Founded in 1946, Mourne Golf Club is one of three clubs in Newcastle and is part of the world-famous golfing campus at Royal County Down. Mourne Golf Club play their competitions on the Championship Links at Royal County Down, while members can also play the Annesley Links course at Royal County Down. The clubhouse has a fascinating history and is ideally situated a stone’s throw away from Murlough beach and just metres from the first tee at Royal County Down.

Open Week Entry Criteria: Amateur Golfers; Over 18’s (on day of competition); Members of Golf Ireland (iGolf excluded). General release of time slots to Golf Ireland members via this website at 09.00am on Tuesday 5^th May 2026.

The Club

From Nissen huts used by the Civil Defence Authority during World War II, to today’s modern, granite and brick structure, the Mourne clubhouse has come a long way.

A perfect venue to celebrate any occasion. Consider Mourne and the dedicated Founders’ Suite for weddings, events and family occasions. Members and visitors welcome.

General release of time slots to Golf Ireland members via this website at 09.00am on Tuesday 5^th May 2026. Open Week 2025 was a huge success with members and visitors from all over Ireland arriving in Newcastle to compete on the famous Royal County Down links courses. Open Week was open to male and female amateur golfers with official Golf Ireland handicaps. We thank Royal County Down once more for courtesy of the courses during Open Week.

Højgaard victorious as McIlroy is denied at RCD

On a dramatic final day, Rasmus Højgaard became the latest Dane to win the Amgen Irish Open after a sensational back nine denied home and crowd favourite Rory McIlroy at Royal County Down.
