Mourne Golf Club’s Ryan Brannigan secured his third club competition victory in a row with a fabulous score of nett 66 to win Thursday’s prestigious McKeown Cup, presented by John Rodgers Building Supplies Ltd.
Brannigan showed unwavering consistency, with 13 pars and one birdie on the par 3 seventh to hold off a surging Peter Murphy to win by two shots.
Brannigan took home a brand new Titleist SM10 wedge as the first prize, along with the McKeown Cup trophy.
For second place, Murphy won a Bushnell Phantom as a reward for his three-birdie performance on the sixth, ninth and 10th respectively.
Jeff Pamplin of Jameson Links GC rounded off the podium, winning a Travis Matthew 1/4 zip top after posting a nett score of 69.
Mourne’s Stephen Barker took the lowest gross score of one under par 70, along with an Ashworth golf shirt for his forth place finish.
Mourne’s Greg Smyth and Grange GC’s Matthew Molloy finished in the final two prize winning positions, 5th and 6th, after both posting scores of nett 70.
We thank all at John Rodgers Building Supplies for the generous prizes and sponsorship of one of the signature events of Mourne Golf Club Open Week. For more information, please visit the Open Week page of our website.
