The Mourne Golf Club Juvenile Annual at Home took place last Sunday and Eoin White did just enough to fend off the chasing pack to land the prestigious season-ending event.

On a gusty day, the Mourne Juveniles took to the Annesley Links in pursuit of one of the season’s main events. Juvenile Convenor Paddy Curran set the players off in what turned out to be a closely fought contest all afternoon.

However, there could be only one winner and White emerged victorious with a winning score of 35 points. He was closely followed by a chasing pack on 34 points that included Ryan Thornton, Matthew Murphy, and John Gribben. Thornton took second outright on a countback with Murphy third and Gribben fourth.

Also in the mix were James Rodgers (33), Harry Martin (32) and Paddy Jennings (32).

Afterwards the presentation of the annual trophies was also made to the juvenile winners with Mourne President Martin Greene on hand to present the trophies. Aaron O’Boyle was named Golfer of the Year after a fine season also saw him win the Junior Lions Cup and the July Medal.

Matthew Murphy received the P&T Lavery Trophy as the Most Improved Player. He also won the Kingfisher Trophy and September Medal.  The Clubman of the Year went to Callum Flynn, who teamed up with Senior member Paul Boden to win the Gerry Toner Trophy and won the Hanna Putter.

Congratulations to all the Juvenile winners and participants after another great season.
